Elzinga & Volkers Construction Professionals was ranked 105 on Associated Builders and Contractors’ 2019 Top Performers list, which recognized ABC member contractors’ achievements in safety, quality, diversity and project excellence ranked by work hours.
Published as a supplement to Construction Executive magazine, the lists identify the Top 150 Performers, Top 50 Performers with Special Designations and Top 20 Performers by Region.
“ABC Top Performers are leading the way in the merit shop construction industry, where diverse participants are constantly striving to achieve the highest levels of personal and company performance in an environment of fair and open competition,” said Michael Bellaman, President and Chief Executive Officer of ABC. “These rankings will help the industry identify contractors like Elzinga & Volkers Construction Professionals that have achieved world-class safety performance, demonstrated their commitment to their workers and their communities and earned recognition for project excellence and diversity.”
To be eligible, Elzinga & Volkers demonstrated world-class safety performance by implementing ABC’s STEP safety management system, which makes the top-performing contractors up to 680 percent safer than the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics industry average, according to the ABC 2019 Safety Performance Report. The Top Performers were ranked by size based on the number of hours worked in 2017, as reported in their 2018 STEP applications.
“We are honored to be recognized as a top 150 performer in the country by the Associated Builders and Contractors. We work diligently to provide quality construction through safe working practices and feel privileged to be recognized for our efforts,” shared Tony Roussey, chief operations officer and corporate safety director of Elzinga &. Roussey continued, “Congratulations to the other contractors on this elite list. Thank you for all being leaders in our industry.”
On March 27th in Long Beach, California, at ABC’s 29th annual National Excellence in Construction Awards Gala, Elzinga & Volkers received the Pinnacle Award for safety, an award touted for recognizing “exceptional safety records and rigorous education programs.” In 2018, at the same event, Elzinga & Volkers was awarded the National Safety Excellence award. The company has been a long time participant in ABC’s STEP program and is an Accredited Quality Contractor for the third consecutive year. On May 15, Elzinga & Volkers celebrated 12 years without a lost time injury; an accomplishment made possible through the commitment to safety by each member of the Elzinga & Volkers team nationwide.
