EMCO Software introduces a new version of EMCO Network Software Scanner - a free software inventory tool designed to remotely audit Windows software installed on PCs across a company computer network. Version 1.1 includes new features that are aimed to help network administrators to have a clear view of all Windows applications used across the entire network. The new version is also optimized to work in large networks, so it can be successfully used by enterprises and organizations with thousands of PCs in their networks.
The primary goal of EMCO Network Software Scanner is to collect a list of installed Windows application from every PC in the network and represent the collected data in a clear form to provide network administrators with up-to-date software inventory information. The new version of the application includes a special view to display up-to-date inventory information for selected computers. By default, inventory data is grouped by software manufacturer and software name, so network administrators can select the required software manufacturer and software name to see the PCs where the corresponding software is installed. If required, the data representation form can be changed, and network administrators can see ungrouped data or apply a custom grouping by computer name, software installation date or other parameters.
EMCO Network Software Scanner also allows network administrators to track software changes. Every time a software scan is initiated, the application creates a snapshot of the collected software inventory information. It is possible to compare two snapshots to see the changes made. This feature allows network administrators to track software configuration changes and find software that was installed and uninstalled between the inventory scans.
The new version of EMCO Network Software Scanner includes improved data export functionality. All collected software inventory information representing the up-to-date software configuration and saved inventory snapshots can be exported as CSV (comma separated values) files. The CSV format is supported by Microsoft Excel and can be converted to various other formats using this tool.
"Despite the fact that EMCO Network Software Scanner is a freeware tool, it is ready to work in large networks. Moreover, it is designed to audit thousands of network PCs and represent information on hundreds of thousands of installed software applications. To meet such requirements, all parts of the application have been redesigned to guarantee the best possible performance", Thorarinn Oskarsson, CEO at EMCO Software, says.
EMCO Network Software Scanner is a freeware application that can run on the Windows platform starting from Windows XP through the latest Windows x86 and x64 desktop and server operating systems. It allows collecting software inventory information from network computers running Windows XP or later versions of Windows OS. The application can be downloaded for free without registration directly at http://emcosoftware.com/network-software-scanner.
