The latest version of the application supports all Windows versions starting from Windows XP and offers the same functionality on all Windows platforms.

EMCO Software, a leading provider of PC power management solutions, has announced the availability of a new version of its EMCO Remote Shutdown software compatible with Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012. EMCO Remote Shutdown is an automatic shutdown and Wake-on-LAN utility for Windows designed to turn on and off remote PCs across a local network. The new version of the application is compatible with x86 and x64 versions of Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012. The application can work on these platforms, as well as on the previous Windows versions, and can manage remote PCs running Windows versions starting from Windows XP throughout the latest versions of Windows released in 2012.

"The latest version of the application supports all Windows versions starting from Windows XP and offers the same functionality on all Windows platforms. Network administrators can execute shutdown, wake-up and other types of supported remote operations on all network PCs regardless of the Windows versions installed on them. The application’s user interface is also the same and doesn't depend on the version of Windows installed on PCs where the application is started. Network administrators can use the same modern Ribbon UI to work with the application on all supported platforms", Thorarinn Oskarsson, CEO at EMCO Software, says.

EMCO Remote Shutdown is PC power management software designed to help network administrators and IT professionals to manage network PCs remotely. Using this application, network administrators can shut down, wake up and reboot selected PCs and groups of PCs remotely from a central location. The application also supports other types of remote operations, for example, it allows forcing log-off on remote PCs, activating hibernation, locking and unlocking input devices on remote PCs, displaying a text message and switching remote PCs to the sleep mode.

The application includes integrated scheduling functionality to execute remote tasks on schedule. Network administrators can schedule shutdown, wake-up and other supported operations to be executed automatically on a defined date and at a defined time. Remote operations can be scheduled either for one-time execution on a particular date and at a certain time or for recurrent execution every day, week, etc. The application works as a Windows service and can execute scheduled tasks automatically with no interaction with network administrators. All remote operations can also be executed manually on demand, if required.

Network administrators can use EMCO Remote Shutdown to organize automatic PC power management across the entire organization to reduce energy wasting by PCs left turned on by users at night and on weekends. Automating shutdown and wake-up operations to turn off and on PCs can reduce PC power consumption by 40% and save around $40 per PC per year based on the current power prices.
