The Whambulance Monster Truck Ambulance from First Choice Emergency Room

First Choice Emergency Room, the leading freestanding emergency room system in the US, today announced an innovative program to familiarize consumers with local ER facilities. As an innovator in health care, First Choice Emergency Room is bringing a branded Monster Truck, The First Choice ER Whambulance, to many of its facilities as an interactive means to familiarize people with First Choice Emergency Room facilities as an alternative option should a medical emergency arise.

The First Choice ER Whambulance will park outside the company's Louetta Road facility on Friday, August 17, 2012 from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. and welcome visitors to take a photo by the vehicle, sign up to win a remote control mini-Whambulance and even take a turn at racing the remote control truck. Complete with 66” tires, the converted 2005 Chevrolet Kodiak Heavy Duty Ambulance is now 14 feet tall, 13 feet wide and 25 feet long.

In collaboration with KILT, one of Houston’s leading country radio stations, community members can participate in family-friendly activities and enter to win prizes including an Apple iPad. Radio listeners can enter to win during broadcasts on August 14 and August 16.

“When the Whambulance rolls into town, our patients will be able to see a different side of First Choice ER,” said Dr. Derrick Mitchell, Facility Medical Director at the Louetta location. “Our patients know the benefit of almost immediate access to board-certified emergency physicians, and this is a way to say thank you to the community.”
The First Choice Emergency Room's most frequent patients are males 21 and under, so the Monster Truck is an interactive and highly relevant opportunity to engage with this key group, along with the larger community, and introduce them to the First Choice Emergency Room facilities.

First Choice Emergency Room’s Louetta Road facility is open 24 hours a day, seven days per week. The facility is located 10130 Louetta Road, Suite. L in Houston, TX 77070 and can be reached at (281) 301-3130. Derrick Mitchell, MD is the facility medical director and received his B.A. in Biochemistry at California State University Fresno and received his medical degree from John Hopkins University School of Medicine. Dr. Mitchell is board certified in emergency medicine.

First Choice ER physicians are board- certified and all nurses are emergency trained. The facility is equipped with state of the art diagnostic technology, including CT scanners, ultrasound machines and digital x-rays, and on-site COLA & CLIA accredited laboratories to handle emergency needs on the spot.
