First Choice ER and one of Houston’s leading alternative radio stations team up to host local community event

The First Choice ER Whambulance

First Choice Emergency Room, the leading freestanding emergency room system in the United States, today announced a new program to familiarize consumers with their local ER facilities. As an innovator in health care, First Choice Emergency Room is bringing a branded Monster Truck, The First Choice ER Whambulance, to many of its facilities as an interactive means to introduce communities to the First Choice Emergency Room facilities as an alternative option should a medical emergency arise.

The First Choice ER Whambulance will park outside the company's Atascocita facility on August 18 2012 from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m. and welcome visitors to take a photo by the vehicle, sign up to win a remote control mini-Whambulance and even take a turn at racing the remote control truck. Complete with 66 inch tires, the converted 2005 Chevrolet Kodiak Heavy Duty Ambulance is now 14 feet tall, 13 feet wide and 25 feet long.

In collaboration with KTBZ, one of Houston’s leading alternative radio stations, community members can participate in family-friendly activities and enter to win prizes including an Apple iPad. Radio listeners can enter to win during broadcasts on August 17 and August 19.

“We are excited to again bring the Whambulance to the Atascocita location and interact with the community on a more fun and personal level,” said Dr. Daniel O’Connor Facility Medical Director at First Choice’s Atascocita-Humble facility. “Our patients appreciate First Choice’s already personal interaction with the board-certified emergency physicians, and we look forward to continuing to build this relationship for many years to come.”

The First Choice Emergency Room's most frequent patients are males 21 and under, so the Monster Truck is an interactive and highly relevant opportunity to engage with this key group, along with the larger community, and introduce them to the First Choice Emergency Room facilities.

First Choice ER physicians are board-certified and all nurses are emergency trained. The facility is equipped with state of the art diagnostic technology, including CT scanners, ultrasound machines and digital x-rays, and on-site COLA & CLIA accredited laboratories to handle emergency needs on the spot.

First Choice Emergency Room’s Atascocita facility is open 24 hours a day, seven days per week. The facility is located 5324 Atascocita Road, Suite T, Humble, TX 77346 and can be reached at (832) 644-3400. Daniel O’Connor M.D., A.B.E.M. is the facility medial director and graduated from The University of Texas Medical School at Houston after receiving a B.S. from Marquette University. Dr. O’Connor has been a leader in emergency medicine since 1975 including 18 years with the emergency department at Northeast Medical Center in Humble, Texas.
