EMEX, LLC, a leading firm providing energy procurement & analysis services in the deregulated regions of the United States, announces it has helped Western Monmouth Utilities Authority (WMUA), which provides wastewater treatment service to a significant portion of the towns of Manalapan, Marlboro, and a portion of Englishtown and Freehold Township, with their electricity procurement. WMUA, who services over 25,000 customers, successfully obtained a lower rate for the 5,800,000+ million kWh of electricity they annually consume through their pump stations and other facilities.

With the EMEX Reverse Auction Platform, WMUA was able to receive highly competitive bids on electricity rates for various terms through a transparent bidding war between competing National and Regional Electricity Suppliers. In all, the competitive event attracted 10 suppliers who over the course of minutes submitted more than 55 bids. The auction resulted in the decision to secure a new 24 month electricity contract that is expected to save the Western Monmouth Utilities Authority more than $100,256.52 over the course of the agreement. The new contract’s term begins in September 2013.

“The electricity used by a wastewater treatment facility is enormous. Over the duration of the contract, Western Monmouth Utilities Authority will have a reduced spend on an estimated 11,695,320 kWh, which ultimately represents a substantial financial savings to residents in the 4 different communities WMUA services in New Jersey” commented Todd Bennett, Senior Government Analyst for EMEX, LLC.

The WMUA has 250 miles of sewer lines and 30 pump stations. The sewer treatment facility is located in Manalapan Township in Monmouth County. The plant is a tertiary treatment facility with an Ultra Violet Disinfection System.
