SMB now offers CULA, a GPU-accelerated linear algebra library, for clients looking to benefit from the parallel computing power of advanced graphics cards.

CULA offers speedups of up to 10X, depending on the application. This is of tremendous value to the research and development community, and we look forward to helping clients maximize on the potential of parallel computing.

EM Photonics, a leader in accelerating computationally intense algorithms with commodity hardware platforms, announced today its partnership with SMB GmbH, a German reseller of high-performance computing (HPC) technology. Developers and scientists in Germany and neighboring countries can now buy CULAtools™ directly from SMB and receive value-added services such as integration assistance and support.

“We are excited about offering our clients a leading GPU-optimized linear algebra toolkit such as CULAtools,” said Dr. Thomas Horn, CEO of SMB. “For those clients who are dealing with very complex linear algebra problems, CULA offers speedups of up to 10X, depending on the application. This is of tremendous value to the research and development community, and we look forward to helping clients maximize on the potential of parallel computing.”

“We were looking for a well-established partner in Germany with great experience in HPC technologies and could not be more pleased when meeting with the SMB team,” said Eric Kelmelis, CEO of EM Photonics. “Not only do they have the technology and market knowledge, but also the commitment to excellence we look for when building partnerships. We are confident this will be a long-lasting relationship that will bring benefits to everyone, our clients included.”

EM Photonics is looking to grow its presence in Europe by partnering with well-known HPC vendors in that territory. SMB now provides sales coverage for CULA not only in Germany, but also in The Netherlands, Switzerland and Austria. As a reseller for companies including the Portland Group (PGI), Allinea, and AccelerEyes, SMB provides not only sales and product support, but also IT consulting services to clients.
