Working in partnership with The Survey Initiative gives us the opportunity to develop a tailor-made survey, and involve staff in its design. This way we will gather the views of our staff about the things that really matter to them...
London, UK (PRWEB UK) 20 April 2012
With in excess of 60,000 homes, 13 businesses, c 3000 staff and assets of over £3 billion, it is vital that UK property management, development and regeneration group Places for People has the most engaged workforce possible. Its people are its lifeblood, and it works hard to look after them; employee engagement is key.
Now, to help it learn better from its workforce and become an even more valued employer, Places for People has awarded the contract for undertaking its new employee engagement survey to Essex-based research specialists, The Survey Initiative.
Places for People chose The Survey Initiative from a shortlist of three research specialists, believing that it had many shared corporate and cultural values. Liz Sharrocks, Places for People’s Employee Engagement Advisor explains:
“We felt that the team at The Survey Initiative had many shared values with Places for People, and we particularly liked the bespoke approach they took to our needs. They have a closely-knit team and we were impressed by their enthusiasm and can-do attitude”.
The appointment of The Survey Initiative marks a shift away from using more generic tools to measure employee engagement to a fully-tailored approach – the survey process will be moulded exactly to Places for People’s needs.
The employee engagement survey project has now begun in earnest with the first survey completed earlier this year. To gain the fullest understanding of staff needs and aspirations, The Survey Initiative will be working closely with the Employee Engagement Advisor, the senior management team and the survey project team. Employees will also contribute further to the process via focus groups drawn from staff at all levels.
The new survey will give Places for People the information it needs to make informed decisions about employee engagement. It will also result in a number of valuable resources, such as workbooks for line managers who will take responsibility for employee engagement at a local level.
Places for People has a track record of running engagement surveys on a regular basis, and The Survey Initiative is determined to prove that its approach adds value and provides the key information needed to inform the Group’s employee engagement programme.
David Cowans, Group Chief Executive at Places for People and the Group’s employee engagement project sponsor, said: “Working in partnership with The Survey Initiative gives us the opportunity to develop a tailor-made survey, and involve staff in its design. This way we will gather the views of our staff about the things that really matter to them in a way that can then guide action.”
Gary Cattermole, Partner at The Survey Initiative explains: “What makes our approach stand out is our rejection of a ‘one-size-fits-all’ employee engagement process. We are looking forward to learning how Places for People works, and to create a survey that is based on their culture and their needs and most importantly to provide results that lead to positive change, year after year.”
