“I am pleased that so many groups are participating in the HIT University certification program and am certain graduates will provide a significant value-add to the ambulatory medical communities they serve.”

EMR consulting and technology resource EMRapproved.com is answering the demand for healthcare-trained IT professionals with HIT University - an online healthcare IT certification program that prepares IT technicians to assist the medical community with IT infrastructure for EMR software and systems. The program also offers IT firms affected by the economic downturn a way to increase their client base and provide more services.

An estimated 50,000 new healthcare IT (HIT) professionals will be needed to help U.S. health care providers make the shift to electronic health records and meet Meaningful Use requirements. Due to the rapid rise in demand, an education gap has become evident in the IT marketplace. Most small to medium-sized ambulatory practices require assistance to improve their technology, yet very few IT groups are currently knowledgeable in this area nationwide.

EMRapproved recognized this gap while developing their free web-based tool for physicians, and the company has invested significant time and resources to build a self-paced online curriculum to help bridge that gap between the IT and healthcare communities. Each month since the initial launch of the HIT Online University Program, EMRapproved has added new HIT proficient groups to their searchable nationwide consultant directory. As new members emerge, EMRapproved plans to announce their availability for service.

“I am pleased that so many groups are participating in the HIT University certification program and am certain graduates will provide a significant value-add to the ambulatory medical communities they serve,” says Wendy Whitmore, Managing Partner and CIO for EMRapproved Corp.
