BOWLING GREEN, Ky., June 19, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Under this scholarship program and essay contest, students were required to submit a 1-2 page essay on "Why Energy is Important to East Kentucky?" Encore also visited with students earlier this year and presented a summation of the oil and gas industry along with future career options to the graduating seniors.
At the graduating class of 2019 awards ceremony in May, Encore awarded a total of $2,000 in scholarship funds to first and second place winners of the essay contest.
"Encore is currently seeking co-sponsors for 2020 from Kentucky's Oil and Gas Industry to participate with us in this very important program," said Steve Stengell, Encore's President and CEO. "The objective is (1) provide much needed scholarships for LCHS graduating seniors and (2) bring awareness to the oil and gas industry's career opportunities and the positive economic impact our industry has on the state's economy, especially in the more rural and impoverished areas of East Kentucky," added Stengell.
