Manchester, UK (PRWEB) July 24, 2008
The nominees have been unveiled for a new awards event that seeks to showcase the very best of entrepreneurial spirit and success in the North West, honouring the individuals who drive forward the region's thriving economy.
Taking place at Manchester's New Century Hall on August 28th, The North West Entrepreneur Awards 2008 signify a new and unique approach to business recognition, as nominees will be judged across fifteen categories on a broad range of factors that have helped bring them success, from motivational skills to innovation, promotional methods to determination. Individual sectors, such as motor dealerships, property developers and restaurants will also be recognised, as will Best Family Business.
"The region's economy has enjoyed great success in recent years, with rapid growth driven by passionate and dedicated individuals in the business community," says Saima Ansari, Operations Director of Square Mango Events, the event's organiser. "With the North West Entrepreneur Awards 2008, we're seeking to recognise some of the key players in this process, with both household names and less well known entrepreneurs featured in the nominations."
Notable nominees include Manzur and Iqbal Ahmed OBE, the father and son team behind the hugely successful Vermilion Cinnabar Restaurant in East Manchester who have been nominated for Restaurant of the Year, as well as lesser known success stories such as Rachael Baughan, the founder of True Model Media. Rachael has suffered with Body Dysmorphic Disorder for her whole life, and after successful battle with the illness has gone on to open a modeling agency and photographic studios, launch the Samaritans Flowers Garden at Hampton Court and even written a best-selling book about her experiences called The Butterfly Girl. Her success, determination and motivational speaking have lead to her being nominated in the Young Entrepreneur of the Year category.
"It's all about showcasing the leading lights in the business sector; people who have achieved success despite great challenges, often in the face of adversity," adds Ms. Ansari, "Individuals who 'break the mould', have a great deal to teach the rest of us both as role models and business pioneers."
The event will also offer an opportunity for professionals to network and discuss the business challenges and opportunities that exist in the North West, where the economy is booming and currently worth around £50 billion annually. More than 80 percent of those attending will be active property or business investors, with a collective net worth in excess of £15 billion.
