Opencast systems architect Tobias Wunden and technology architect Andrew Wasklewicz today announced the launch of Entwine, a media capture company dedicated to helping organizations deliver multimedia content to enrich learning environments, and stay connected to an increasingly mobile population.
Entwine provides customized media capture solutions from audiovisual design to content distribution that move organizations from simply collecting audiovisual content, to creating, capturing and sharing, automatically. Having developed automated lecture capture platforms at ETH Zurich and other international universities, the team’s combined expertise in media systems, systems architecture, and learning technologies reveals an experience unmatched in the marketplace.
Bringing a team of seasoned technical strategists, engineers, and design professionals together, Entwine is the first company to provide fully integrated professional services and support for the open source media capture platform, Opencast Matterhorn.
Developed by the Opencast community and supported by a grant from the Mellon and Hewlett foundations, Matterhorn supports the integration of audiovisual content into the learning environment enabling institutions to produce, manage, and distribute lecture recordings to engage students with educational video content and improve learning outcomes.
Tobias Wunden notes “Being an active part of Matterhorn's development has given us tremendous insight into institutions’ requirements and challenges. With Entwine now actively contributing to, and supporting the Opencast community, we’ll be able to take lecture capture to a whole new level.”
Entwine will innovate with its clients and the community to engineer products that extend the capacity of the Opencast Matterhorn platform, and create an environment where scalability and product lifecycle are virtually limitless. “Our goal is to keep the process open – to share with the global community the lessons we learn through each new development and application,” explains Andrew Wasklewicz, “our team is passionate about working with the Opencast community to build the best open source, standards based media capture processing available.”
Lead by the energetic spirit, foresight and imagination of Tobias Wunden and Andrew Wasklewicz, Entwine is poised to transform the educational media capture market, and share it’s vision for enriching learning environments with other industries.
Entwine is the first company to offer custom development, consulting services and support for Opencast Matterhorn–an integrated lecture capture platform that lets organizations benefit from the changing nature of engagement through audiovisual content.
