I knew from the moment I learned about e-recording that it would be something Rogers County would greatly benefit from. The land records clerks and I are all excited about it, and it will save our department and Rogers County money and time.

Oklahoma’s Rogers County recorded its first electronic document through Simplifile, the nation’s largest e-recording service provider, and has made e-recording of all document types available to customers.

First American Mortgage Services was the first to electronically submit a mortgage document to Rogers County for recording using Simplifile’s e-recording software. After approximately one hour, the mortgage was recorded, stamped, and returned to the submitter.

“I knew from the moment I learned about e-recording that it would be something Rogers County would greatly benefit from,” said Rogers County Clerk Robin Anderson. “The land records clerks and I are all excited about it, and it will save our department and Rogers County money and time.”

With the availability of e-recording in Rogers County, document submitters such as title companies, banks, attorneys, and lien filers are able to scan, upload and submit any document type, including deeds and mortgages, to the clerk’s office for recording via the Internet. This online submission method has proven to be more efficient and results in a faster turnaround time than submitting documents by mail, runner or courier service.

“The customers will also benefit because of its convenience and time-saving attributes. It’s a great win-win situation,” Anderson said.

Mail costs, excessive paper waste, and check-writing expenses are also eliminated when documents are e-recorded through Simplifile, as everything, including county fees and payments, is securely processed electronically.

Customers are also able to track the status of their documents and receive notification when documents are recorded or rejected for any reason, so that the customer may quickly fix any errors and re-submit to the county.

“The list of benefits that come with e-recording is vast, but one of the most rewarding is to see how happy it makes the document submitters who start using it,” said Paul Clifford, president of Simplifile. “Simplifile automates the recording process and makes it so much faster, simpler, and convenient for people who need to record documents with the county on a daily basis.”

Rogers County is the 30th county to begin e-recording in Oklahoma.
