I feel e-recording will benefit our customers’ need to have their documents recorded as soon as possible and not be tied up in the mail.

MITCHELL COUNTY, N.C. (PRWEB) December 03, 2013

The Register of Deeds office in Mitchell County, N.C., has implemented electronic recording (e-recording) of land documents with Simplifile, the nation’s largest e-recording service provider, offering an expedited, paperless recording service to customers.

“I decided to start e-recording because all of our neighboring counties had already jumped on board and I figured now was the time to put ourselves in the game as well,” said Mitchell County Register of Deeds Kathy Laws. “Plus, I feel e-recording will benefit our customers’ need to have their documents recorded as soon as possible and not be tied up in the mail.”

When submitting documents to the register of deeds’ office by mail or courier service, customers often wait several days for their documents to be received, reviewed, stamped, and returned, but with e-recording, the wait and turnaround time is often reduced to minutes.

“By sending and receiving documents electronically through the Simplifile’s online service, it’s possible for the recording process to happen with a few mouse clicks and a few minutes,” said Paul Clifford, president of Simplifile. “It’s more secure and more efficient for both the register’s office and the submitter, and it also helps them save significantly on postage, paper, fuel, and other expenses that accompany traditional paper document recording.”

Document submitters include title companies, banks, attorneys, lien filers, and others who send land and real property documents to the register’s office for recording.

“We are excited to welcome our 27th North Carolina county to Simplifile and look forward to the expansion of e-recording throughout the state,” Clifford said.

More than 25 percent of North Carolina’s counties are now part of Simplifile’s e-recording network.
