I feel e-recording will be beneficial to the citizens of Pamlico County, and it will increase our efficiency as a government entity. It makes the turnaround time of processing documents faster and more efficient.

North Carolina has added its newest e-recording jurisdiction, Pamlico County, to the Simplifile e-recording network, enabling land documents to be electronically submitted and recorded online.

“I feel e-recording will be beneficial to the citizens of Pamlico County, and it will increase our efficiency as a government entity,” said Lynn Lewis, register of deeds in Pamlico County. “It makes the turnaround time of processing documents faster and more efficient.”

Pamlico County currently accepts satisfaction documents and starting Monday, April 1, the county will be accepting all document types for e-recording submitted through Simplifile.

“I have received superb service from Simplifile thus far,” Lewis said.

Simplifile’s e-recording service enables document submitters such as title companies, banks and attorneys to scan, upload and submit documents to the register of deeds office through its web-based software, eliminating the need for submitters to use a mail, runner or courier service.

Pamlico County also held a kickoff meeting Wednesday to demonstrate the Simplifile system and discuss the benefits of e-recording with local submitters.

“With Simplifile, customers have found the recording time is cut down to hours or minutes as opposed to waiting days or sometimes weeks for documents to be stamped and returned back to them by mail,” said Paul Clifford, president of Simplifile. “It’s a win-win situation for the county and for submitters because it really automates the recording process and helps save both parties on overhead costs associated with traditional paper document recording.”

Simplifile currently e-records in 25 North Carolina counties and has the largest e-recording network in the nation with a total of 861 e-recording jurisdictions to date.
