Older people are especially targeted by fraudulent repair scams and other fast-talking con artists.
San Rafael, CA (PRWEB) September 14, 2011
This week, the Law Offices of Julia P. Wald published in a new web page of telephone resources for seniors and their families. Julia created the page because she is frequently asked by clients for referrals to appropriate social service and law enforcement agencies to care for non-estate planning needs of her clients. The new Internet information posted on her Marin estate planning attorney Internet portal will let people look up the information they need 24 hours a day.
“Seniors, their relatives and their friends often need assistance from public-service and public-spirited organizations more than younger people do,” Julia notes.
The online directory of telephone numbers supplements the listings of Internet resources already displayed on her estate planning web site. The phone numbers were compiled with the assistance of the State Bar of California, and cover many consumer and care issues faced by elders.
“Older people are especially targeted by fraudulent repair scams and other fast-talking con artists,” Julia warns. “Our list includes contact information for the Contractors’ State License Board, the California Department of Consumer Affairs, the state’s Cemetery and Funeral Bureau, and more.”
In addition, the reference offers phone numbers to report elder abuse and improper treatment by residential care and nursing home facilities.
The Marin estate planning attorney includes contact information to file complaints about shoddy estate planning work, including ways to report Living Trust “mills.” The directory page also contains the telephone number for the State Bar of California to file complaints or to check out an attorney’s license status.
The focus of the resources is not just limited to senior issues regarding estate planning—the guide lists the telephone numbers of interest to all older people and their families. Contact information for the Social Security Administration, U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs and the State Independent Living Council are typical of the information featured on the site.
