Eurochannel, a television channel bringing Europe to each American home, has announced its April programming lineup of European movies, European music, television series and documentaries. In the United States, Eurochannel is available on DISH Network (channel 752) and on Hotwire Communications Systems.
“We are particularly proud to be bringing Master Nichev’s films to everyone in America,” said Gustavo Vainstein, CEO of Eurochannel. “Many Americans are eagerly looking for quality European movies and TV series. As they recently discovered good coffee and fine wines, they are being surprised by the fascinating European stories that we have to offer. This will be a wonderful month for all Eurochannel viewers.”
Eurochannel would like to highlight the following programs this April:
- Bulgarian filmmaker Ivan Nichev is featured through a collection of five of his most unforgettable films. Although his films deal with topics like the Holocaust, two world wars and communist repression, they are relatable through colourful characters with unique personalities. Nichev himself will introduce each of the five films presented, starting every Friday in April at 9 PM ET / PT. In addition, Eurochannel filmed an exclusive interview with Nichev while visiting the locations of his most famous films. The interview premiers on April 15 at 10:30 PM ET / PT.
- Anna Pihl is a Danish television series that tells the story of recently divorced single mother who changed her life by joining the Bellahøj police station in Copenhagen. The series gives a firsthand look at the dangerous daily routine of the heroine, as well as the life of a young mother protecting her son from the consequences of having a job like no other. She lives with her son, Mikkel and Jan, her gay male friend. And although the show has action and suspense, it comes second to the personal stories and realism. The series premiers on April 20 at 10:00 PM ET / PT.
- French musician Michel Sardou has been on the scene since the ‘70s, with 23 albums selling over 320 million records. No stranger to controversy, Sardou’s career began when the United States was in the middle of the Vietnam War. While France was experiencing a wave of anti-Americanism, Sardou chose that time to openly proclaim his support to the United States with his song “Les Ricains” (the Yankees). Eurochannel presents a retrospective of the singer’s career with live performances of his concerts in Paris Bercy. Viewers will listen to La Maladie d’Amour, Je vais t’aimer, Comme d’habitude or Le Chanteur de Jazz. This program premiers on April 10 at 8:00 PM ET / PT.
Other featured programs airing on Eurochannel this April include The Greatest Battles of the Spanish Civil War, a documentary series on one of the most horrific conflicts in European history; U2, a retrospective of the band’s success through their greatest hits; Puggy, Belgium’s freshest band entering the world stage; The second season of KDD, the cops of Berlin; and French Tales and Novels from the 19th century.
