Web Marketing Association Honors Work for Pucker Vodka, Sprint, The BossTracker5000

Euro RSCG Chicago’s fresh ideas and creativity on behalf of its clients have earned the agency four 2012 Internet Advertising Competition Awards, produced by the Web Marketing Association to honor excellence in online advertising, recognize the individuals and organizations responsible, and showcase the best in award-winning digital production.

The firm received Best Telecommunication Website and Outstanding Website, both for Sprint; Best Beverage Rich Online Media Ad, for Pucker Vodka; and Best Other Social Media Campaign, for The BossTracker5000, an in-house invention designed to catch and document busy executives at their desk.

Expert judges for the annual IAC Awards – the first and only industry-based advertising award competition dedicated exclusively to online advertising – select winners based on seven criteria: creativity, innovation, impact, design, copywriting, use of medium and memorability.

For Sprint, Euro Chicago created “Be a 3D Star,” a website for the HTC EVO 3D, the company’s most innovative phone of 2011 – and the world’s first glasses-free 3D phone. The agency delivered “Present Tense,” a first-of-its-kind movie trailer for a heist-style film that allowed users to upload an image and insert themselves into the action. To sustain excitement over the campaign’s two-month lifespan, the tech-obsessed could share the experience with friends – and enter to instantly win one of the devices. Emails and social media also helped spread the word.

For Pucker Vodka, the agency sought to capture the attention of 21- to 29-year-old women in positioning the new flavored vodka brand as a bold, unique flavor experience between the cheap, syrupy tastes of college life and the “lightly infused” flavors of the super-premium space. Vibrant colors and intriguing messages encourage those interacting with the ad to keep clicking, discovering new brand messages throughout.

Finally, showcasing a creative solution found literally by looking around the office, Group Creative Director Michael Shirley created a device that captures a fresh photo and sends a snappy tweet each time Chief Creative Officer Jason Peterson plops down in his office chair. The BossTracker5000 – created in about three days, for $40 – is triggered by a reed-switch sensor that monitors magnetic proximity. A signal is sent through a board to a processing sketch, which tells the computer to snap a webcam photo of Peterson and upload it to Twitpic with a saying chosen from a pool of prewritten zingers. This Twitpic post is immediately loaded to the BossTracker5000's Twitter feed.

“Our entire team is thrilled to have been recognized by the Web Marketing Association,” said Jason Peterson, Euro RSCG Chicago's chief creative officer. “These awards affirm that we produce great work that gets results for our clients, and we’ll continue working hard to do that at every opportunity.”
