We're very proud to have done so well when so many others have not been so fortunate. It will be exciting to see how far we can go as things move forward.
Hollywood, FL (PRWEB) July 14, 2009
RJD Stores, a conglomerate of four furniture and home interior online stores, recently opened a new retail flooring site despite the current economic downturn.
Every Floor is being introduced during a time when nearly all US businesses are scaling back on production and labor in an effort to stay afloat until the recession finally comes to an end. "We've been able to thrive in this environment because customers are shopping smarter. They're looking around for deals on everything, and we can give them that," a spokesperson for the company says. "We've spent a lot of time and energy diversifying our sites and making sure our prices stay low in comparison to competitors. That is what has given us a huge advantage. But with things the way they are, you have to work smarter. Every Floor plays in to this philosophy. They currently offer things like nationwide shipping, lower prices than other in the industry, as well as a wide range of products that can't be found anywhere else. "If you go into a home improvement or flooring store you may find some of what Every Floor has to offer. But we're pretty much the first to offer everything you could want in one place. Glass. Marble. Ceramic. Porcelain. It's all right there."
Furniture and mattress sales dropped nearly 10 percent last year, and have been slow to recover as the recession continues to linger on. Several of these retailers have been forced to close their doors. Others have managed to stay afloat, but very few have continued to grow as RJD Stores has.
The ability of some companies to thrive while most others are struggling to keep their doors open may seem confusing or even unfair to some; but according to the RJD Stores spokesperson, it's all a matter of working smarter.
"I really think we have an edge over our competitors, even during a slow economy, because we offer such a wide range of products. Now with the Every Floor site, you can buy furniture and décor items for your whole house from and get the tile to finish off the look all from the same company. That certainly beats having to shop around all day to find the best match."
Not every store can offer that kind of diversity. We're very excited about this, and about the prospect of broadening our horizons even more in the future," he says.
Aside from diversity in their product lines, the companies who are best surviving the recession are those who aren't afraid to implement the technology that is at their disposal. Online shopping continues to grow in popularity, and new ecommerce sites are being created everyday; And for good reason. Stores that operate solely online like RJD Stores don't have to worry about renting a showroom or stocking inventory.
But even with these advantages, a lot of online retailers are still struggling.
"It takes more than just hiring a web designer and putting up a few items for sale," an industry insider says. "A lot of it has to do with spending your marketing dollars wisely, but more importantly, it's about being reliable and living up to the promises you make to your customers. The internet hasn't always been around, and a lot of people are skeptical. If you give them any reason to doubt you, they won't be back."
RJD Stores seems to understand this concept. Their spokesperson stated "We've come a long way in a relatively short amount of time because we're not rushing into anything. We only move forward when we have full confidence that we're providing something that is desired by consumers and that we have the resources to implement things properly.
You can open new stores everyday of the week, but without enough manpower for customer support you'll eventually fail."
Only a number of weeks after going live, RJD Stores is already seeing a great response to the new site. It currently features tile flooring options in a wide range of colors and materials, from top leading brands such as Megatrade, Solistone, Hakatai, Tesoro, and Florida Tile. Additionally, the items carried on Every Floor coordinate with products sold on the company's sister sites The Dining Room Space, The Bedroom Space, and The Bathroom Depot
Although the economic recession hasn't slowed the company down, RJD Stores owners and employees look forward to even more growth when things turn around. "We're very proud to have done so well when so many others have not been so fortunate. It will be exciting to see how far we can go as things move forward."
