expressor 3.0 delivers on our founding vision to provide enterprise-class data integration software that is affordable, fast and easy to use.
Seattle, WA (PRWEB) November 8, 2010
expressor software announced today at the PASS Summit 2010 version 3.0 of its affordable, enterprise-class data integration platform, which features game-changing ease-of-use, performance and reusable data mappings—yet costs up to 80% less than comparable products. expressor 3.0 is a comprehensive design, development and deployment platform available in three editions and tailored to support the full range of data integration applications, from tactical data migrations to large enterprise data warehouses and strategic, predictive analytics. With expressor 3.0, organizations can:
- Bring enterprise-class data integration functionality within their budget for mission-critical applications.
- Enable less-technical users to perform data integration and reduce their reliance on expensive developers.
- Replace manual coding or underperforming traditional or open-source tools for day-to-day data integration applications.
- Reduce data mapping complexity and increase application reusability to improve their time-to-value.
“expressor 3.0 delivers on our founding vision to provide enterprise-class data integration software that is affordable, fast and easy to use,” said Bob Potter, president and CEO of expressor software. “With expressor 3.0, anyone can download enterprise-class ETL onto their desktop and design complex data flow applications in minutes. Starting with our expressor Studio 3.0 beta, there’s no reason not to replace your brittle and expensive hand-coded data integration applications or underperforming in-house tools.”
“With expressor 3.0 and the new expressor Studio, expressor software is providing the tools necessary for helping IT departments manage the variability in their data input sources and effectively leverage metadata in their actual ETL processes,” explained Tim Benninghoff, director of data services for REACH3.
“expressor 3.0 is set to move data integration forward on a number of fronts,” said Rick Barton, director, edexe. “It’s affordable, quick-and-easy to pick up and use, has a powerful scripting interface and includes expressor Studio, which is free to download and use. But where expressor 3.0 really raises the bar is in the innovative treatment of metadata. Earlier versions of the product allowed developers and analysts to work with business rather than technical terms. Now expressor has extended the paradigm to enable these business terms to be grouped and manipulated as reusable artifacts. It’s a very new and very powerful way to introduce high degrees of standardization and reuse into the data integration metadata layer.”
expressor 3.0 components and capabilities
expressor 3.0 is comprised of three components: expressor Studio, the expressor Repository and the expressor Data Processing Engine.
expressor Studio provides game-changing ease-of-use with a drag-and-drop and wizard-driven interface that enables developers to easily connect to standard data sources and targets, map data to common business names and types, and design and run complex data flow applications in minutes. It extends its unique semantic integration capabilities with Semantic Types—a powerful new approach to data mapping and transformation that greatly reduces time-to-deployment. expressor Studio beta is available immediately as a free download from http://www.expressorStudio.com. expressor Repository is an enterprise-class semantic metadata repository that collects, stores and manages project management information, reusable data descriptions, application file versioning and performance metrics. It enables collaborative team development and centrally maintains the details of a data integration application, including user roles and assignments. expressor Repository also maintains descriptions of the incoming and outgoing data record structures, parallel processing paradigms and business rules, providing the information needed to manage project development and support smooth analysis and management of data processing tasks.
expressor Data Processing Engine is a high-performance parallel data processing system that runs a deployed data integration application. It enables breakthrough scalability by supporting batch and low-latency data processing. With expressor 3.0, the expressor Data Processing Engine now provides high-performance connectivity for all major RDBMSs and data warehouse appliances as well as generic ODBC support. Recent TPC-H tests with Teradata have shown linear scaling of the expressor 3.0 engine achieving load speeds in access of 400,000 rows per second in a single disk configuration.
Available in three editions
expressor 3.0 is available in three editions tailored to support the needs of specific data integration users, applications and environments.
expressor Community Edition is the free, downloadable version of the company’s comprehensive data integration platform, designed for individual developers and consultants. It consists of the expressor Studio design environment, which includes an embedded version of expressor’s high-performance parallel data processing engine. expressor Community Edition runs on Windows XP Service Pack 3 and Windows 7 platforms.
expressor Standard Edition is designed for small-to-medium sized project teams building data services, data marts and large data migrations. It includes expressor Studio and adds a design-time metadata repository to enable project reuse and version management. It also includes a standalone runtime version of the expressor Data Processing Engine that enables remote development and partition parallelism deployment on high-performance Windows Server and Red Hat Linux platforms.
expressor Enterprise Edition is designed for fast-growing or large organizations building enterprise data warehouses or performing data mart consolidations, operational data integration or master data management. It includes expressor Studio, the same Data Processing Engine as expressor Standard Edition and an enterprise version of expressor Repository, which collects, stores and manages design-time and operational metadata to enable reporting on data lineage, data governance and application performance. expressor Enterprise Edition also facilitates fine-grained, role-based development to allow multiple user roles including developers, data stewards and data analysts to participate in the application development process.
Pricing and availability
expressor Studio 3.0 Community Edition beta is now available as a free download, and it will be in general release year-end with an annual support subscription starting at $1,150 for a single user. expressor Standard Edition will also be available by year-end, and per-channel pricing is $10,000 for a two-year license. expressor Enterprise Edition will begin shipping in spring 2011 as part of expressor 3.1 and will be based on Standard Edition pricing with an incremental charge of $25,000 per enterprise repository for a two-year subscription license. expressor software also offers 6-month and 1-year subscriptions as well as perpetual licensing options.
