“Doors are key entry points for burglars, so it’s important to reinforce all the weak areas with a security system that makes it virtually impossible to kick-in doors and windows," said Armor Concepts CEO, Alan Young.

While July and August are the most popular months for summer travel, they are also the year’s two leading months for break-ins, where most communities will experience a 10 to 19 percent increase in home burglaries, according to the Burglary Prevention Council and FBI statistics. Alan Young, founder and CEO of Armor Concepts, the authority in door security, jamb reinforcement and jamb repair, has advice for residents on simple and inexpensive precautions to take before leaving home this season.

“Imagine the nightmare of returning from a relaxing trip only to find that your home has been burglarized. Home alarm systems can help, but they do not stop intruders from entering,” said Young. “Doors are key entry points for burglars, so it’s important to reinforce all the weak areas with a security system that makes it virtually impossible to kick-in doors and windows. EZ Armor is an easy, inexpensive way to protect your home—whether you’re leaving for three minutes or three weeks.”

Additional measures to take before leaving home, according to Young:

  • Resist posting vacation plans on public, online social communities, such as Facebook, Twitter and MySpace
  • Do not use an “out-of-town” message on your answering machine
  • Leave a car in the driveway or parked directly in front of a home
  • Cancel newspaper delivery and hold mail service
  • Put interior and exterior lights on timers
  • Mow grass, trim hedges and water outside plants soon before leaving

Each year in the U.S., there are more than six million home burglaries. According to FBI crime reports, nearly 85 percent of all forced entries into homes are through the front or back door. EZ Armor secures the weak points of a door with L-shaped pieces that reinforce the jamb, hinge and lock areas. The EZ Armor Door Security System can be installed in about 30 minutes with minimal “do-it-yourself” skills. And, unlike security bars and screens that cover the door and can be unattractive, EZ Armor is barely visible once installed. The elements can be installed without removing the door’s trim, locks or cutting any nails. The combo kit fits jambs of any thickness and locks with any backset, making it a simple addition to both old homes and new.

Soon to be available at Lowe’s stores nationwide, EZ Armor is now available via http://www.ArmorConcepts.com and currently can be special ordered at any Lowe’s location. At the low price of $69, it’s a cost-effective and easy solution to a growing problem.
