EZTech recently deployed its capabilities in the State of California to aid a gas utility in a complex compliance and workforce management challenge. On short notice, EZTech mobilized project management, field technicians and related staff to meet a rigorous schedule set forth by the utility.
The EZTech product originally developed for another subsidiary of Sparus, Southern Cross Corp. was simply to manage the workforce by knowing where the individuals were, collect payroll and streamline production data. The new version of the EZTech mobile workforce software has been expanded to allow multiple data point entries which allow workforce management to find greater efficiencies and assure workforce quality by identifying problem areas and apply corrective actions much more rapidly.
By utilizing numerous points of data which were collected during the project including, workforce productivity, service related quantities and workforce location tracking, the utility client has claimed production improvements from its work force of more than 20 percent. In addition, the utility saw the value of the independent verification that the GPS pinpointing delivered as a means to eliminate questions of erroneous recording by field technicians. It is a perfect format to demonstrate activity in a dispute with a consumer or regulator. Little doubt is left that a technician was indeed at the location when the breadcrumb trail indicates a pass through. The utility also realized additional savings in the elimination of paper record retention as EZTech was able to electronically capture all of its inspection and survey events in the mobile platform. Quality assurance audit results yielded a 99% accuracy rate.
From the success of this project, this California utility client is working with EZTech to develop complex report fields for remote data collection so that these additional data points can be assembled and analyzed for greater workforce efficiencies and quality assurance measures.
