After an initial drop, social media platform and Facebook page app designer, ShortStack.com, now sees business page engagement trending sharply upward

ShortStack.com sees a rise in fan engagement

As users become more familiar with the new Timeline layout, I think brands will see livelier and more meaningful engagement on their Pages.

ShortStack, a self-service custom Facebook app platform, has seen Facebook Page engagement on the rise during the last eight weeks. Despite outside reports suggesting that Facebook users are abandoning custom facebook apps, fan engagement is nearly back to its pre-Timeline level.

“With any significant Facebook change there is inevitably a lull until people find their way around the new design,” Jim Belosic, CEO of ShortStack said. He believes that the custom app hits were down temporarily because default landing tabs are no longer possible. “As users become more familiar with the new Timeline layout, I think brands will see livelier and more meaningful engagement on their Pages,” he said.

Last week, Mashable published a story highlighting statistics compiled by PageLever, a Facebook analytics company. The numbers showed that during the months of March and April, engagement was down by 53 percent. The story was shared by readers more than 4,400 times. The news also resulted in numerous inquiries from ShortStack users concerned that Timeline was negatively impacting their Pages.

These inquiries prompted Belosic to dig up some of his own data. ShortStack looked at samples of more than 30,000 Facebook pages and 400 million Likes, and discovered that after a dip during March and April, engagement started to rise again and is now approaching the pre-Timeline levels. Although fan engagement statistics since the switch to Timeline have been varied, ShortStack users are continuing to see success with their custom Page apps.

ShortStack will continue to provide the tools and resources for businesses to drive user interaction and increase Page Likes. The future of ShortStack looks bright, with plans to offer more enterprise-level features while maintaining a reasonable cost and make their tools “platform agnostic,” so they can be used across the web and not solely for Facebook.
