I have incredibly fond memories of my three years at Beverly. I’m proud and blessed to have had the privilege to attend this extraordinary high school and to now serve as a director on the board of the Alumni Association.

Beverly Hills High School (BHHS), part of the Beverly Hills Unified School District and a California Distinguished School, was founded in 1927. BHHS is only major public high school in Beverly Hills and is one of the most decorated public high schools in the country. The school is characterized by state-of-the-art technology, dynamic interdisciplinary curriculum, student centered active learning, respect for diversity and strong ties with parents and the community. BHHS has received national recognition in such diverse areas as robotics, engineering, technology, foreign language, mathematics, music, print and broadcast journalism, athletics, business, marketing and design. The Senior Awards Night, which takes place in June at the BHHS Peters Auditorium, is held annually prior to the graduation ceremony to present honors and awards to deserving seniors.

The Beverly Hills Alumni Association was established in 1978 and is the single largest donor of scholarships to the high school. As in previous years, the Alumni Association awards six (6) scholarships every year at $2000 each for a total of $12,000 to deserving seniors. Of the six (6) scholarships, there are three (3) named scholarships that are equal in importance and monetary value to the others, but are named after the donors whose generosity have made them possible. The named scholarships are: the Gary Dordick Family Scholarship, the Michael J. Libow Scholarship and the third is in memory of a former Beverly Hills High School teacher, the Lisa Harris Memorial Scholarship. Scholarship considerations are based on both merit and need and recipients are selected through a committee review process.

The directors who serve on the Alumni Association's Board represent prominent members of the community, as well as alumni of graduating classes of every decade from the 40's through the 00's. Candace Chen is a Director of the Board, member of the Scholarship Committee and Chairwoman of the Alumni Hall Of Fame Committee. Beverly Hills High School is alma mater to a significant number of celebrities, entrepreneurs, dignitaries, scientists and politicians. From Betty White, Donald Bren to Michèle Flournoy and Elinor Ostrom, with new honorees inducted into the Hall of Fame each year at its own ceremony. Other notable celebrities who have attended BHHS include Nicolas Cage, Angelina Jolie, Lenny Kravitz, Carrie Fisher etc.
