Blackbaud, Inc.(Nasdaq: BLKB), announced today that an increasing number of faith-based organizations are leveraging the company's technology solutions to better serve their members and engage them online.
More than 900 faith-based organizations including CRISTA Ministries, Partners International, Catholic Diocese of Orange, Great Commission Ministries, and Franciscan Development Office use components of the Complete Faith-Based Solution.

Blackbaud Interactive, the company's Internet strategy and services team, worked with CRISTA Ministries to redesign and develop several of its online ministry sites. A major aspect of the project was the creation of a Global Gift Guide for the World Concern ministry. The online shopping catalog allows supporters to select gifts that directly benefit people in need all over the world. For example, supporters can purchase two lambs for a poor family, provide a blackboard for one classroom, or a safe haven for a neglected or abused child.

Faith-based organizations leading the way online
The recently issued results from Blackbaud's State of the Nonprofit Industry Survey show that faith-based organizations are more likely than other nonprofits to use their Web sites to raise funds and create online communities.
- 66 percent use their Web sites to raise funds (vs. 58 percent of other nonprofits)
- 32 percent use their Web sites to create online communities (vs. 26 percent)
Faith-based organizations also receive a higher average gift from online donations (84 percent $50+) than offline donations (78 percent $50+), in contrast to general respondents.
"Given the importance of individual donations, online fundraising and online community building are crucial for this group," said Brad Braddock, Blackbaud's senior vice president of marketing. "The survey results indicate that faith-based organizations are ahead of the curve in using Internet technology, yet there is clearly still room, and a need, for growth."
