(Family heirlooms) bring family history alive, and our goal is to make sure the stories behind these objects don’t get lost.
Ferndale, WA and Austin, TX (PRWEB) October 03, 2012
The Heirloom Registry – a family heirlooms preservation service that helps users save and share family stories about the things in their life they care about – has released a short, animated video that tells the story behind one couple’s family heirloom.
“It is the story of a couple who falls in love – both with each other, and with a very special table,” said Heirloom Registry Marketing Director Dan Hiestand. “It follows the life of the table, from its discovery in a shop to becoming a family heirloom that is deeply loved.”
The piece also serves as a way to explain how The Heirloom Registry works, said Hiestand.
“Viewers of the video will not only be entertained, but will clearly understand how this new service works after seeing it,” he said. “We believe that The Heirloom Registry will help people add more color and texture to their family trees and genealogical research.”
The reason: Family heirlooms are multi-dimensional, and not just abstract data like you may find during traditional genealogy research, Hiestand said.
“It’s one thing to know when and where great grandma was born, or how many brothers and sisters she had,” he said. “While this information is essential, it’s an entirely different – and in some ways more powerful – experience to know that she once rocked back and forth in the rocking chair in which you now sit, or spent months hand-stitching the quilt now in your lap. These items bring family history alive, and our goal is to make sure the stories behind these objects don’t get lost.”
About The Heirloom Registry

For as little as 99 cents and in just 10-15 minutes, family stories can be safely preserved. It’s simple: Mark/label your family heirlooms (and future family keepsakes) with a high-quality Heirloom Registry sticker, brass or aluminum plate, and share your items' stories – or provenances -- in words and pictures at http://www.heirloomregistry.com.
