Our goal is to create food that tasted great and was as good for the earth as it is for the body. Our hope is that the new Special Diets line of foods will aid in an improved lifestyle for those with gluten allergies and metabolic diseases.
Portland, OR (PRWEB) July 16, 2012
This July, Farm to Fit made available an entire line of gluten-intolerant and diabetic friendly, chef-prepared meals to the Portland, Oregon area. The ‘Special Diets’ program now offers a diabetic friendly menu at the 1600 calorie level, based off of ADA recommendations, as well as gluten-intolerant options for all three available calorie counts.
Farm to Fit is a Portland meal service that offers gourmet, calorie-controlled, fresh and organic meals for pick-up or bi-weekly delivery. The weekly meal plans, which include breakfast, lunch and dinner, allow for 1200, 1600 and 2000 per day average caloric intake. The chef-created meals are sourced from local farms, are never frozen, contain no preservatives and have a minimal carbon footprint.
Co-Founders of Farm to Fit, G. Scott Brown and Dre Slaman, utilized the expertise of Shannon Hughes in creating the Special Diets line, who has a Bachelor of Science in Food and Nutrition Science, and over 8 years of expertise specializing in diabetes education and management for both inpatient and outpatient veterans. Also assisting with menu creation is Dawn Barnachea, a Registered Dietitian and Certified Diabetes Educator.
“Farm to Fit was born out of our desire to create a meal system that was healthy and delicious at the same time,” explains Brown. “Our goal was to create food that tasted great and was as good for the earth as it is for the body. Our hope is that the new Special Diets line of foods will aid in an improved lifestyle for those with gluten allergies and metabolic diseases.”
