Janet Racy makes rebuttal to NY Times headline declaring Tavi Gevinson as the "Oracle of Girl World."

Janet Racy, International Stylist

In the last ten years, a new generation of stylists has taken to the internet. These kids are very tech savvy, but I think that they have a thing or two to learn about fashion that some of the more experience stylists can teach them.

Janet Racy, top New York Stylist and Fashion Consultant, announced that she will be launching a new online business initiative. A Veteran of the New York Fashion industry for over thirty years, Janet Racy comments on The New York Times headline published June 27, 2012 declaring Tavi Gevinson as the "Oracle of the Girl World" stating, "I believe there is a disconnect right now between the people in the fashion world who really know what is going on, and the army of online bloggers out there who pretend to know the trends."

Janet Racy declares that for the New York Times being such an authoratative and esteemed news outlet, they were callow in their declaration. Janet Racy applauds Tavi on her success and passion for fashion, but admonishes followers who declare Tavi as an oracle of fashion simply based on ability to get a large social media fan base. "I have been in New York fashion industry for over twenty years, and seen all of the changes in fashion and style. In the last ten years, a new generation of stylists has taken to the internet. These kids are very tech savvy, but I think that they have a thing or two to learn about fashion that some of the more experience stylists can teach them."

Tavi Gevinson turned heads in the world of fashion when she was just 13 years old. Three years later, she not only is as popular as ever, but runs her own magazine. Tavi Gevinson herself blogs under the name "The Fashion Rookie".
