Doral, Florida-based Fastkit Corporation recently won nine regional and national awards for its unique marketing brochure called “The Perfect Finish”, which highlights the firm’s extensive suite of print finishing capabilities.

“We knew this piece was going to be a real work of art, but we never dreamed it would garner this volume of awards and recognition. It’s really exciting,” said Fastkit President Jose Fernandez, Jr.

Fastkit Corporation, a full-service presentation packaging and print finishing company, recently received numerous national marketing and design awards, including four ADDYs, two Binding Industry Association awards, and a “Best in Show” award from the Foil & Specialty Effects Association. The awards recognized the company’s specialty brochure called “The Perfect Finish”, an elaborate marketing piece meant to highlight the firm’s extensive suite of specialty finishing services.

The awards included Gold ADDY® awards in both Miami and Fort Lauderdale ADDY events, a Gold ADDY and a Charlie Award (Best in Show) at the district conference, a Silver at the National ADDYs; two Gold Awards and Best in Show for Excellence in Mechanical Binding and Excellence in Self Promotion from the Binding Industry Association; and a Gold Award and Best in Show at the Foil & Specialty Effects Association's Gold Leaf Awards.

Fastkit has long been known for providing custom presentation packaging and specialty finishing services—everything from foil stamping, embossing, laminating and book binding, to spiral binding, perfect binding, duplexing, silkscreening and hand assembly. The Perfect Finish brochure was created to show and tell potential customers—mainly advertising agencies and commercial printers—about their vast finishing and binding capabilities.

“The Perfect Finish was specifically created to push the limits of print production by using some of our most unique and striking print finishing techniques,” said Fastkit President Jose Fernandez, Jr. “We knew this piece was going to be a real work of art, but we never dreamed it would garner this volume of awards and recognition. It’s really exciting.”

The visually stunning brochure highlights 75 different finishing and bindery processes including UV coating, silkscreen, glitter, foil stamping, grommets, embossing and more. Each page of the brochure was designed to showcase these finishing techniques through visual “stories” told through dramatic imagery and the highest quality papers. For example, an image of a circus performer with extreme ear piercings highlights the use of grommets.

Fernandez said the goal of the elaborate brochure was to raise awareness of Fastkit’s ability to bring even the most challenging design visions to life. “We are a South Florida company, but we work with printers and agencies all over the country,” he said. “We wanted to show these companies that when it comes to finishing, we make the impossible possible.”

Fastkit worked closely with James Kluetz, who at the time was Creative Director at Pinpoint Communications, now Vice President and Creative Director at Brand Tango. Designed, constructed and finished page by page, the meticulous project took over six months to complete, but the result is a perfect work of art that is turning industry heads around the country. "Magazines, newspapers, and other types of traditional print content continues to migrate online, but that doesn’t mean print is dead,” says Kluetz. “A visionary printed piece that is engaging and relevant to the brand delivers a physical and emotional message that could never be duplicated online. This piece highlights that fact perfectly."

All paper stock for the project was provided by Mohawk Fine Papers of Cohoes, New York.
