VALLEY FORGE, Pa. (PRWEB) December 04, 2012
For four years in a row, in an overall comparison of high-volume unit dose packaging systems for pharmaceuticals, customers ranked AmerisourceBergen’s FastPak EXP with the top scores, according to a Best in KLAS Awards report. Representatives from KLAS presented the award to AmerisourceBergen Technology Group at the American Society of Health System Pharmacists’ 2012 Midyear Meeting & Exhibition in Las Vegas this week.
The KLAS study helps healthcare providers make informed technology decisions by offering accurate and impartial vendor performance information. Unit dose packaging for pharmaceuticals in hospitals and health centers has shown to reduce errors in medication administration, as well as improve efficiencies in pharmacy. The technology allows doses to be individually bar-coded and read at the patient’s bedside. While barcoding at the unit dose is not required, several healthcare providers install the packaging technology to ensure the integrity of their medication administration.
The participants in the KLAS study were healthcare providers, mainly pharmacy directors or managers. They examined indicators in several areas, including: Overall Satisfaction, Ease of Use, Overall Product Quality, Overall Implementation, Parts Availability, Product Uptime, Product Value, and Post Implementation Support.
