The new T-POV Modules deliver the industry’s most versatile and cost-effective POV camera control solution
Worcester, MA (Vocus/PRWEB) April 08, 2011
Telecast Fiber Systems today announced that its next-generation T-POV links for robotic cameras are now available for purchase and will make their North American debut at the 2011 NAB Show. Introduced last fall at IBC2010, the new T-POV family of fiber optic video/data transceiver modules delivers the established functionality of the company's original HD/POV solutions plus the options of Ethernet control and ruggedized Mini-Mussel Shell field enclosures, all at a new lower price.
Telecast Fiber Systems' T-POV modules allow remotely operated, robotic POV camera systems to be connected via fiber — enabling unique points of view and camera angles at sports venues and other locations in which human-operated cameras would not be feasible. The T-POV modules handle all of the signals typically required for POV cameras, including HD/SDI Video, remote pan/tilt/zoom, camera control, and tri-level sync/genlock, audio and Tally/GPIs. Plus, the addition of Ethernet support permits use of the industry’s new generation of Ethernet-controlled cameras and robotic heads..
In addition, the new T-POV modules offer a high-density solution for base stations by providing up to nine links in just 3RU. The new T-POV modules for the field are available in two housing options: traditional “Throwdowns” for permanent installations, or the new ruggedized “Mini-Mussel Shell” enclosures for harsh-environment field use. All Camera Units and Base Stations include integral optical power metering, informative system LED indicators, and an assortment of powering options.
In addition, the system now supports the option of powering the robotic camera and pan/tilt head via SMTPE hybrid fiber.
"The new T-POV Modules deliver the industry’s most versatile and cost-effective POV camera control solution," said Jim Hurwitz, Director of Product Management and Marketing at Telecast Fiber Systems. "Whether configured for permanent installation, or for the rigors of mobile outside production, the T-POV system gives broadcasters more flexibility than ever before for using fiber and remote cameras to capture unique and exciting images for their audiences. The solution is perfect for sports and remote broadcasting, but its lower price point also makes it ideal for applications in other areas such as security, education, and military.”
The T-POV units are available in over 136 different configurations, comprised of a variety of signal compliments, fiber optic connectors, housings, and powered or unpowered capabilities. The T-POV modules will be among several new Telecast Fiber Systems innovations for fiber optic transport on display in the company’s booth at the 2011 NAB Show, C8925.
