NEW YORK YANKEES, (MLB Team of the Year) – The new Yankee Stadium hosted its first regular-season game in 2009 when the Yankees played the Cleveland Indians and the first playoff game against the Minnesota Twins in the ALDS on October 7, 2009. The Yankees swept the Twins in three games to win the divisional series. They won their 40th American League pennant on October 25, 2009, defeating the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in six games to advance to the World Series, where they defeated the Philadelphia Phillies in six games to win their 27th World Series. BRIAN O’CONNOR, (University of Virginia) – Coming off the most successful season in Virginia baseball history, Brian O'Connor is in the midst of his seventh season at the helm of the Cavaliers. O'Connor led Virginia to the program's first College World Series berth in 2009 while capturing the school's third ACC championship and first regional and super regional crowns on the road to Omaha. Brian is well-deserving of this year’s NCAA Division 1-A Coach of the Year award.

CHRIS CELANO, (Dowling College) - In 2009, Celano led the Golden Lions to a program record 35 wins and their first ever NCAA Division II East Regional championship. At the World Series, the Golden Lions finished 1-2 with the victory coming over then No. 1 nationally ranked, UC San Diego. Dowling finished the season under Celano's guidance with a No. 12 national ranking, the first national ranking in program history. Chris was a lock for this year’s NCAA Division II Coach of the Year award.

UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS – The Longhorns are coming off yet another excellent campaign in 2009 under Coach Augie Garrido where they lost a heartbreaker to LSU in the finals of the College Baseball World Series in Omaha. The Longhorns’ gritty performance against champion LSU earns them this year’s NCAA Team of the Year.
