FileTek, Inc., a leading global provider of large-scale data management and information governance solutions, today announced that it will present a morning seminar and an afternoon breakout session at the spring meeting of the Greater Baltimore, Maryland, chapter of ARMA International. The subject of the meeting is “Emerging Technologies & Records Information Management.” The meeting will be held on March 26, 2010, from 8:00 A.M. until 4:00 P.M. at the Johns Hopkins University/Applied Physics Laboratory Kossiakoff Center, which is located at 11100 Johns Hopkins Road in Laurel, MD. ARMA International, a not-for-profit professional association, is the authority on managing paper and electronic records and information. The Baltimore chapter has been an active and vital ARMA component since 1975. For directions and registration instructions, visit http://www.armamar.org/GBMC/Programs/GBMC.pdf.
The FileTek sessions will focus on the importance of choosing the right technology mix when planning and implementing a proactive records management program. This approach includes classification of both new and legacy data according to the same policy rules, minimal impact on end-user operation, intelligent share drive migration management and control, forensic authentication and audit trail, support for federated architectures to preserve investments in existing technology, and a comprehensive rules structure that consistently extend to all records, even those created at the network’s edge – on laptops, desktops, and file shares.
Mark Seamans, FileTek Vice President and CTO, will lead an informative morning general session entitled, “Technology Strategies for Mitigating Litigation Risks.” He will explain how the right technology decisions can proactively empower organizations to access key information, fulfill their legal obligation to preserve critical content, and maintain a proper custodial chain throughout the content lifecycle. Mr. Seamans will also discuss innovative technology solutions that support these critical goals. His 20-plus years of experience designing, developing, and delivering enterprise software solutions give him the unique credentials and knowledge to link today’s available technologies to the most pressing and important customer requirements.
Mike Smith, FileTek General Manager for Trusted Edge®, will present a comprehensive afternoon breakout session entitled, “Avoiding RM Hazards: Tales from the Front.” Session topics include managing out-of-control file shares, enforcing policies when no one listens, determining who monitors custodians, and combining technology with sound practices to overcome these problems. The failure to address these issues can negatively affect productivity and increase the potential for litigation risk and financial sanctions. Mr. Smith has over 20 years of experience working with industry-leading records management solutions and is an expert on classification schema design and best practices records management guidelines.
Greg Chalmers, Vice President of Programs for the ARMA Greater Baltimore chapter, remarked, “We are pleased to have FileTek as part of our meeting agenda.
