Website Launches, Pledges Funding To Aspiring Filmmakers

TheMoviePool.com will utilize it's revenues to fund one users' feature film project per year. The site provides a niche-focused forum for networking and collaboration.

Dallas,TX (PRWEB) May 19, 2009 -- The Movie Pool has launched the Beta version of it's new entertainment resource, and revealed it's unique ad model aimed at funding competitions for filmmakers, actors, and writers. The site will host an annual audience participation contest and provide a filmmaker from it's community of users the funding to produce their own feature film with only one condition: they must utilize the site's pool of creative talent to produce the work.

"This type of thing has been done before, aspiring artists attempt to utilize the internet to fund their own passion projects, but we're taking it a step further and raising the money to give it away to other artists," says the site's founder Gabriel Barboza.

The contest, which will be officially announced later this year, has the stipulation that the filmmakers who receive funding should utilize the pool of talent on the website to find at least a quarter of their cast & crew.

By building a legitimate online destination and creative resource the site hopes to sell long term, flat rate advertising to niche clients; and use the money to fund not only feature films, but programs aimed toward aspiring actors and writers.

The project is being spearheaded by a group of Texas filmmakers who also share backgrounds in writing and acting. They are molding the site around a unified theme: Harness The Collective. The idea was developed when one of the filmmakers was able to utilize eBay to successfully sell ad space and travel cross country to promote his own feature film.

"I know the biggest hurdle for any filmmaker is always financing so I combined an adapted version of my ad concept with an idea for a site that had been brewing in my mind for years, and TheMoviePool.com was born," says Barboza.

The site provides movie reviews and entertaining articles as well as informational articles for actors, writers, and filmmakers. Users can create profiles to network and collaborate within the community and the site will soon launch features such as forums, classifieds, video sharing, and a user blogging platform.
