Wake Technical Community College's annual Spring Fling event has expanded with their inclusion of a financial education booth hosted by the SunTrust Foundation Center for Financial Education.

Wake Technical Community College's annual Spring Fling event has expanded with their inclusion of a financial education booth. Hosted by the SunTrust Foundation Center for Financial Education, this booth will feature games, prizes and a money blower to generate interest in the personal finance program.

The Spring Fling event takes place April 12th between 11:00 and 2:00 at Wake Tech’s Main Campus. Students and the general public are welcome to attend. Representatives from Wake Tech, the SunTrust Foundation and the National Financial Educators Council will be on hand to educate students while making the event for all involved.

The Spring Fling event will also launch the start of the Financial Scavenger hunt. This practical game-based learning has students complete real world activities as they compete for prizes. Students will learn how to use a compounding interest calculator, how to access a free copy of their credit report, visit with the career counseling office and other activities designed to help them achieve financial wellness.

Wake Tech’s Center for Financial Education, in collaboration with the SunTrust Foundation and the National Financial Educators Council, are committed to helping students gain personal finance skills using educational events that resonate with students.

Wake Tech is fully committed to designing a comprehensive financial education initiative for prospective students, current students, staff, and faculty. The planning, implementation and assessment of the financial literacy program is a collaborative effort between Wake Tech’s administration, Foundation Office, GED/ABE Programs, Student Activities Office, Financial Aid Office, Promotions & Marketing and Curriculum Education Services. The college is dedicated to providing this holistic financial education initiative in order to increase financial literacy and allow participants to achieve financial freedom and empowerment.
