Mike Krahling, owner of S.T.O.P. of Chester County, spent the last 20 years in the commercial construction industry as well as 16 years in the Army Reserves & National Guard. So it wasn’t much of a leap for him to start a business offering emergency remediation, cleaning, restoration and construction services to homeowners and organizations that are faced with some sort of emergency situation. S.T.O.P. stands for Service Team of Professionals and it is a national organization with local franchises. Krahling states that he chose to partner with S.T.O.P. because of their extensive training and support program. “If I am working on an emergency remediation at 2 AM and have an oriental rug with water damage, I can send my support staff a picture and get a 30 year veteran on the phone to walk me through the specific precautions that must be followed to remediate and protect this valuable asset.”

Krahling says that disaster relief and emergency remediation require that you meet people in a time of great need and sometimes real crisis. “Our goal is to listen first and learn from the customer exactly what valuables he/she is most concerned about. It’s not about going in like a bull in a china shop and removing everything. We first assess the situation both visually and scientifically and then put together a plan that is reviewed with the customer and their insurance company to be sure that we are all on the same page.” Krahling went on to say, “of course this all has to be done on an accelerated timeline because your biggest enemy in emergency situations such as this is time.”

One of the advantages of S.T.O.P. of Chester County is that because of Krahlings veteran status in the construction industry, he can also handle any rebuilding that may need to be done. “Prior to starting my own business, I had been doing project management; estimating and field supervision for commercial projects in excess of 1 million dollars. So I am very comfortable handling projects of any size.” Krahling says he prides himself on being a one-stop shop. From emergency and disaster remediation through rebuilding of the damaged structure, S.T.O.P. of Chester County can handle it all.
