Firetide’s new point-to-point MIMO bridge product is an important solution for our state, local, and government customers. The bridge’s deployment flexibility helps us continue to meet our customers’ requirements in a cost-effective manner.

Continuing the expansion of its wireless infrastructure solutions, Firetide Inc. today announced its new MIMO-based outdoor wireless Ethernet bridge, which will ship in Q3 of 2010. Firetide’s radio technology expertise used in large-scale wireless mesh networks for video, data and voice applications in harsh environments ensures that its bridges are optimized to provide optimal performance, achieving up to 150 Mbps of user throughput.

“Our MIMO bridge product, the FWB-200 is designed for the high-performance interconnect needs of our core markets as well as service providers for whom it is an attractive low-cost alternative to microwave. With this latest addition to our point-to-point bridge family, we continue to expand our end-to-end wireless infrastructure offerings from Firetide for our existing customers as well as build new market opportunities,” said Bo Larsson, CEO of Firetide

The new MIMO-based bridge opens up new opportunities for Firetide in the local wireless service provider and telecom operator space providing interconnections, for example, between Wi-Fi hot spots. Deployed as a standalone solution, the FWB-200 link is managed via a browser-based management interface. Customers in Firetide’s core markets – municipalities, public safety, industrial installations and campus environments – can also use the FWB-200 in tandem with Firetide mesh networks and/or Firetide enterprise WLANs for a scalable end-to-end solution managed via a single network management system.

“Firetide’s new point-to-point MIMO bridge product is an important solution for our state, local, and government customers,” said George Engel, CEO of EIA, Inc., a New York based systems integrator. “The bridge’s deployment flexibility helps us continue to meet our customers’ requirements and it also provides us with the opportunity to extend Firetide wireless mesh network in outlying areas in a cost-effective manner.”

The FWB-200 series bridges come with a software-selectable 4.9 and 5 GHz multi-stream MIMO 802.11n standard compliant radio with external multi-element MIMO antennas. Designed for easy installation, the unit is shipped preconfigured and with all accessories included. Firetide also provides alignment tools to make installation and management easier.
