Brow lighting on fire apparatus’ has for years been shaped by the technical limits of the traditional lighting solutions used on Rescue vehicles. Those limits are numerous; high power consumption, large physical size, fragile components, poor optic efficiency, and excessive heat. Now, thanks to some innovative design work by HiViz LED Lighting, there are new streamlined options that are changing the way departments and apparatus builders look at vehicle mounted scene lighting.
HiViz has developed a technology that allows an extremely low profile bar-style brow light to be mounted on the roof of the apparatus below the emergency warning lights but above the “front” of the cab. This allows for a streamlined installation that does not obstruct view of the warning light bar or take away from the NFPA 1901 compliance.
The light bar features optional integrated marker lights, as well as bifurcated circuitry, to allow for operation of different groupings of diodes to provide multiple “sets” of lights, each with their own beam pattern, integrated in to a single fixture and all switched from the cab of the truck. The total combined output of the HiViz Brow Light is more than 22,000 lumens with each diode being driven to an industry leading 90% and generating an optic efficiency rating of 90% as well. What does that mean? With the HiViz LED driver technology, more of the light created by the diodes actually makes it to the scene.
“The HiViz LED light bar takes the traditional fire market brow scene light to a whole new level. Mixed optic patterns give you light in all the right places. You just can't beat IP-68 compliance, lifetime warranty and a look that transcends the traditional brow light all in one package. And by the way, it's priced right too.” Says Trey Daughtridge of Rocky Mount NC’s Fire Connections, Inc.
The brow light is be offered in 3 standard lengths; 46”, 65”, and 72”. It is available in white or black and can be custom built to any spec for OEM applications. The instrument operates on 6-48v DC and can be configured for 110v or 220v AC as well. To top off the list of specs, the HiViz LEDs FireTech Brow Light is the only Fire/Rescue scene light to ship with a limited Lifetime warranty from the manufacturer.
