Scott has a proven background as a natural leader with the ability to bring positive change to the companies with whom he has worked. We look forward to him building on First Command's five decades of service and commitment to securing the financial futures of the millions of middle-American families that are being underserved by the giant Wall Street firms.
FORT WORTH, Texas (PRWEB) August 15, 2007
"After a lengthy and thorough selection process including both internal and external candidates, I am pleased to announce the Board of Director's unanimous vote to select Scott Spiker as the new chief executive officer of First Command Financial Services," said Jim Lanier, chairman of the board. "Scott has a proven background as a natural leader with the ability to bring positive change to the companies with whom he has worked. We look forward to him building on First Command's five decades of service and commitment to securing the financial futures of the millions of middle-American families that are being underserved by the giant Wall Street firms."
The election of Spiker completes a comprehensive CEO selection process that involved extensive due diligence by all members of the Board. The search began in April, when the Board announced that long-time CEO Lamar Smith was departing to become Chairman Emeritus. Directors selected the executive search firm of Heidrick & Struggles to assist with the selection. Lanier has served as interim CEO throughout the process.
Spiker has already begun preparing for his new role by becoming grounded in the philosophy, concepts and financials of the company. He will play a key role in development of the strategic direction of the company, reaffirm and strengthen relationships with business partners and continue the ongoing process of consensus building across the entire operation.
Spiker and his family will be relocating to Fort Worth from Chicago, where he was raised and most recently served as president and CEO of Destiny Health, a consumer-directed health insurance company. His work history includes the Minneapolis-based broker dealer of RBC Dain Rauscher, where he served as senior executive vice president and president of the Business Services Group, and Norwest Corp., where he served as senior vice president/business manager of the Institutional Trust Group. Spiker is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy and holds an MBA from the University of Chicago's Graduate School of Business.
