On November 16, 2012 Fitness Baron released to the public for free a chart comparing 50 of the top selling why protein supplements. The chart is useful because it calculates the cost per 1 gram and cost per 30 grams of protein for the 50 brands. Also published by Fitness Baron is the spreadsheet pre-formatted with these calculations.

When comparing protein supplements on price, it's imperative to compare apples to apples. This requires calculating the cost per 1 gram of protein, and that's what our tools do.

Fitness Baron's chart that compares 50 of the top selling whey protein supplement brands is unlike any protein comparison chart available. The unique feature of this chart is that it calculates the cost per 1 gram and cost per 30 grams of protein

The figure 30 grams is used because that's a standard serving size of protein. What this does is make when comparing protein brands on price, one is comparing apples to apples. Protein supplements vary in amount, cost, number of protein grams per servings, servings per container all of which variables make truly comparing protein supplements impossible unless calculations are made in a universal manner, which is comparing cost per 1 gram of protein across multiple brands.

Fitness Baron also released a copy of the spreadsheet used to make the cost per 1 gram and cost per 30 grams of protein calculations. This spreadsheet is freely available to anyone. This spreadsheet makes it possible to compare any brand of protein supplement by price.
