A template for development in Bay and surrounding counties is already in place

While the new Northwest Florida-Panama City International Airport, currently under construction near West Bay, will not receive its first flights until the spring of 2010, the project already is spurring development including the planned Spring Ridge community located near Chipley, in south Washington County.
Spring Ridge Development LLC’s commitment to the creation of a substantial new Florida Panhandle real estate residential area stemmed in large part from the new airport’s strong potential as a jobs and opportunity generator – and that potential is quickly becoming reality. Low-cost carrier Southwest Airlines, which does not currently serve the Florida Panhandle, has announced that it will add Northwest Florida-Panama City International Airport as a destination when the airport opens in May of next year.
The Florida Panhandle real estate market has been idling on the runway while the nation has dealt with the recession, but it is clear that it’s poised for takeoff. When it does bloom, it can be expected to do so in dramatic fashion.
“A template for development in Bay and surrounding counties is already in place,” says Janet Watermeier, executive director of the Bay County Economic Development Alliance. Florida Gov. Charlie Crist agrees, calling the airport project a national model for economic development that is coupled with sensitivity to the environment.
So it is that an area of the state little known even among residents of South Florida a few years ago is destined to grow responsibly to become a center for international visitation and trade. The new Northwest Florida-Panama City International Airport, in concert with Port Panama City and a railroad that originates at the port, will make the central Panhandle an important transportation hub sure to spawn new rounds of real estate development.
Spring Ridge is positioned at the front end of that emerging trend.
“Our development team identified the new Northwest Florida-Panama City International Airport, as well as a demand for affordable Florida Panhandle real estate in a small-town environment, as key factors that would provide a strong foundation for Spring Ridge,” said Brad Smedberg, Director of Sales and Marketing.
Phase I Florida Panhandle real estate homesites are now available for purchase at Spring Ridge, starting at $39,900. Home and lot packages start in the $160’s. Financing, with comfortable terms, is provided by the developer to qualified purchasers.
Spring Ridge was created to appeal to a variety of lifestyles, especially those favored by mature adults who are both active and prefer a relaxed atmosphere. That approach is underscored by the outstanding amenities planned in conjunction with Spring Ridge.
Residents will swap stories, shuffle cards and sip cool drinks in a spacious clubhouse; pursue fitness goals at a state-of-the-art fitness center; opt to play one more set on lighted tennis courts; or languish in a resort-style outdoor pool. In addition, they will enjoy ready access to nearby attractions including an 18-hole championship golf course; a 525-acre lake; and the Gulf of Mexico.
At Spring Ridge, residents will be gladdened to have purchased their piece of the Panhandle just as its economy was about to take flight with the recent Southwest Airlines Northwest Florida-Panama City International Airport announcement. Smartly in place at Spring Ridge, they will take stock of their surroundings and smile.
