FM&A Events has been named the winner of the Best Innovative Event – under $50,000 Award of the Association of Destination Management Executives International (ADMEI). The award was presented to FM&A Events founder and president, Faith Moore, on February 9, 2013 at the ADMEI annual meeting in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
The winning event was titled “Back to College: Interactive Cooking Class” and was created as a destination event in Boston for WPOCA World Presidents' Group - City of Angels who wanted a customized meeting that took advantage of the Boston setting in a unique way. Themed around sustainable fishing of the world’s waters, the evening at the New England Aquarium included guest interaction with a shark and ray touch tank, an aquarist coaching the group, and an unusual chef’s cooking demonstration in the waterfront “test kitchen.” The event featured a cutting edge QR code program for fisherman-to-table tracking now coming into use around the world. Among the chef’s demos was the QR code reproduced edibly in squid ink.
When called to the dais in Montreal, Moore said: “I am privileged to accept this award on behalf of the FM&A Events team, our client and outstanding event partners. It is a tribute to the expertise and creativity of our team, as well as to our determination that each event is not only effectively executed in the perfect venue, but is a truly memorable experience for all.”

Winning entries are judged by a diverse panel of industry experts, including members from The Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International (HSMAI), Meeting Professionals International (MPI), Professional Conference Managers Association (PCMA) and International Special Events Society (ISES).
