Despite the disappointment of losing our spots in the Financial District, we are excited to begin selling in San Francisco with our own permits
Emeryville, CA (PRWEB) January 14, 2012
This January, Emeryville-based food truck, Doc’s of the Bay, is opening two new and permitted locations in San Francisco’s Financial and Mission districts. Doc’s expects to set up one of its off-the-grid food carts in front of the TransAmerica Pyramid on Washington Street every Wednesday for lunch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. It will set up another food cart on 22nd Street and Mission Street in the Mission District every Saturday for dinner from 6 to 9 p.m. Both locations are expected to be up and running and serving the best burgers in town by the end of January.
After nearly a years worth of work, San Francisco street food vendor, Doc’s finally received a permit to sell on the public right of way from the Department of Public Works. The permit makes Doc’s one of the first trucks to break through the DPW permitting process with the right to sell in either the Financial or Mission districts. Doc’s locations on Washington Street and 22nd Street were the only approved locations on a application that originally numbered seven.
“Despite the disappointment of losing our spots in the Financial District, we are excited to begin selling in San Francisco with our own permits,” said Zak Silverman, co-owner of Doc’s of the Bay.
The new system of acquiring a permit for food trucks requires an extensive public review and comment by the San Francisco Department of Public Works. Because of the extensive review, the new process can be dauntingly difficult and does not guarantee a permit for any applicant.
