Digital Sports Group are today launching the PFA Profile of Tottenham Hotspur striker Jermain Defoe. DSG became the official digital partner of the Professional Footballers Association (PFA) earlier this year and have since launched a number of Player profile fan pages on social media site Facebook as well as providing official player pages on their football news site football.co.uk. It was today the turn of Jermain Defoe to see his official PFA Profile.

Jermain Defoe started his career at Charlton Athletic, before moving to the famous West Ham academy, making his debut in 2000. A move to Tottenham in 2004 soon followed, and having been seen surplus to requirements in 2008 he moved to Portsmouth – only to return to White Hart Lane in 2009. In his two spells at Tottenham, spanning over 10 years Jermain has scored over 100 goals for the London club, as well as becoming an England international, earning over 50 caps in the process.

Defoe scored Tottenham Hotspurs 1000th goal in The Premier League – this goal was also his 100th Premier League goal and his 100th goal as a Tottenham Player. Jermain has gone on to make over 300 appearances for the North London club, and having just signed a new long term contract, he will be keen to cement his place in Tottenham's history.

Jermain is part of an elite group of strikers who are to score 5 goals in one game in a Barclays Premier League game. Only four other players have achieved such a feat – Jermain scored his 5 goals against Wigan in a rout that ended 9-1. His position seemed in doubt at Tottenham Hotspur with Harry Redknapp in charge, but since the revolution under Andre Villas-Boas Defoe has shone. With 4 goals in 5 games, Defoe will be keen to get back in amongst the goals as the season unfolds.

Head of Operations at DSG, Matthew Tait had this to say “Defoe will have no shortage of fans after his impressive performances for Tottenham Hotspur and England.”

“Of course a player with Defoe's talent requires a certain level of respect and responsibility and he is sure to be a major hit with fans on Facebook.”

Digital Sports Group will provide further PFA player profiles for every professional footballer in England as well as the latest football results. The Jermain Defoe Facebook Page is now live.
