SGS announced today that Dr. Karen Kyllo, Deputy Vice President, Global Softlines for SGS Consumer Testing Services, will join other fashion industry leaders as a member of the Board of Directors of the Footwear Division of the American Apparel & Footwear Association (AAFA). Dr. Kyllo is a recognized authority in the textile industry and a respected lecturer on sourcing, trade issues and regulatory compliance. The AAFA is the national trade association representing apparel, footwear and other sewn products companies, as well as their suppliers in the global market.
In her 5 years with SGS the world’s leading inspection, verification, testing and certification company — Dr. Kyllo has helped to make the organization a key player in the apparel and footwear industry. Her insights have been essential in planning and implementing compliance and testing programs, both in the US and abroad. With up-to-the-minute knowledge on global textile regulations and standards she also her expertise to help SGS clients successfully navigate today’s complex regulatory environment.

Dr. Kyllo brings more than 25 years of industry experience to the AAFA. She holds a Ph. D. in textile science from Purdue University, and a M.S. from Kansas State University. Additionally, Dr. Kyllo has helped shape critical policies and guidelines as part of the American Association of Textile Chemists and Colorists (AATCC), as well as the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) and has been a US delegate to ISO meetings on textiles.
