Gelman, Rosenberg & Freedman CPAs, a Washington, DC-area financial, tax and consulting firm, has acquired the litigation support and forensic accounting capabilities of Greystone Advisory Group LLC, a firm that delivers due diligence and internal corporate and forensic accounting investigation services. Richard M. Potocek, CPA, MBA, CFE, who founded and led Greystone Advisory Group as executive director since 2009, joins Gelman, Rosenberg & Freedman as a forensic and dispute services principal with more than 30 years of experience. He will work closely with Walter Deyhle, Gelman, Rosenberg & Freedman's director of tax and business valuation.

Seven professional staff at Gelman, Rosenberg & Freedman have been certified as fraud examiners by the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, including Carly Stallard, CFE, who has worked with Mr. Potocek since 2009 and joins Gelman, Rosenberg & Freedman as a financial analyst. The firm has provided litigation support consulting services to clients over the past several years.
Prior to opening Greystone Advisory Group in July 2009, Mr. Potocek led internal and forensic accounting investigations as a director for Deloitte Financial Advisory Services LLP in Washington, DC. These investigations were conducted for government and corporate clients to minimize fraud, waste, malfeasance and corruption and identify internal control weaknesses. Mr. Potocek served as a special agent and supervisor for the Federal Bureau of Investigation from 1979 to 2004, where he spent most of his career investigating white collar crime cases such as securities fraud, wire fraud and mail fraud. Mr. Potocek finished his FBI career as the chief of the FBI’s internal audit staff, which conducted internal program management, financial management and information systems audits.
Mr. Potocek also served on the U.S. House Appropriations Committee’s Surveys and Investigations staff as an assistant director leading investigations into the financial management of government agencies and programs to identify inefficiencies and weaknesses in budget execution, procurement and internal controls.
