Family Life Education is holding a Gala to celebrate their 25th anniversary.

Family Life Education(FLE) is holding a Gala celebration to mark their 25th anniversary of transforming lives in the Hartford community.

Founded in 1987 to address the devastating impact of teen pregnancy on low-income girls in Hartford’s Frog Hollow neighborhood, FLE is an independent non-profit organization that strives to empower families to transform circumstances of poverty into opportunities for growth, learning and self-development. Utilizing a brand new approach rooted in self-efficacy, FLE equips young, at-risk mothers, fathers and pregnant teens to chart their own life courses, on their own terms, so as to ensure they become responsible citizens and productive members of society.

“This year we are particularly excited about our gala as we celebrate 25 years transforming lives and making a difference in our community,” Candida Flores, Executive Director of Family Life Education said. “We are especially proud to honor Dr. Elsa Nuñez, President of Eastern Connecticut State University and a tireless advocate for access to higher education for low income youth”

The gala will take place on Saturday, November 3, 2012 from 6:00pm to 11:00pm at the Connecticut Convention Center Ballroom in Hartford, CT. The event is black tie optional and will include dinner and dancing as well as a live and silent auction. Benefits from the event will go towards FLE’s programs; Youth Development and Engagement, Family Education and Support, Children’s Health and Wellness, and Community Research.

Mike Giuffrida, President of ForeSite Technologies, is chair of the gala and has been on the board of FLE for almost two years.

“I am honored to be able to help such a worthy cause,” Giuffrida said. “The people at FLE truly care about the good of their clients and it shows in the great bonds that they have built with the community. I’d like to personally welcome others to experience that at our 25th Anniversary Gala.”
