“College students are being exposed to a vast number of cutting edge technologies today,” said Chris Byers, Formstack CEO. “It's also a group that has incredible opportunities to use technology in a greater way than most people realize."

Formstack, a SaaS (Software as a Service) company that specializes in online form building and data collection, launched its Back to School campaign today. Now until Sept. 21, Formstack will be offering all college students with a .edu email address an extended free trial of its Starter Plan, lasting until May 31, 2013. This will allow students to use the service throughout the upcoming school year, free of charge.

With a customer base made up of small businesses, nonprofits, and universities worldwide, Formstack launched the campaign in hopes that students would benefit from its service not only while in school, but also after graduating.

Sharing a similar passion for education and technology, HackCollege, a student-powered lifehacking blog, is the official sponsor of the campaign. Its mission is to change the way college students and faculty view education and technology by informing students of the world about effective, open source software, putting techno-political arguments in everyday language, and creating a cult of “Students 2.0.” Since its launch in 2006, HackCollege has developed SchoolFinder, which powers queries, granting relevant information about various schools, as well as online programs.

“College students are being exposed to a vast number of cutting edge technologies today,” said Chris Byers, Formstack CEO. “It's also a group that has incredible opportunities to use technology in a greater way than most people realize. HackCollege shares our passion to keep asking the question, ‘But, how can we make it better?’”

In conjunction with the extended free trial, all students who sign up for an account are eligible to win one of two $500 giveaways to be used for the purchase of textbooks. Formal drawings will occur on Sept. 7 and 21. Formstack will also be offering a 25 percent discount to all college educators, administrators and staff.
