We know that homelessness is a prominent issue and growing problem in Orange County. By participating in the Run 4 Homeless 5k/10k, we do our part as business owners and a community to bring awareness to others...

Fountain Valley, CA (PRWEB) March 18, 2014

According to recent statistics, Orange County, California has one of the highest rates of homeless children in the U.S. with over 22,000 families having no where to sleep at night. Thankfully, there are organizations like the Thomas House Family Shelter who strive to provide a safe and supportive environment along with the resources necessary for homeless families with children in Orange County. So when they announced that their annual “Run for Homeless Children” in Mile Square Regional Park would be on March 1st, local Fountain Valley gym Fit Body Boot Camp and its members knew they needed to get involved.

Sam and Zenia Joyner, owners of the Fountain Valley Fit Body Boot Camp, explain, “We felt it was important to get involved because Thomas House is an organization that supports homeless children. We know that homelessness is a prominent issue and growing problem in Orange County. By participating in the Run 4 Homeless 5k/10k, we do our part as business owners and a community to bring awareness to others. Also, it was fun running in the rain!”

The 2014 Run for Homeless Children was deemed a huge success, raising over $37,000 with over 1,000 members of the community participating and over 20 different sponsors supporting the yearly event.

Longtime Fountain Valley Fit Body Boot Camp member, Faride Loera, expressed her excitement about participating in the fundraiser saying, "I completed the 5k to support a great cause that’s all about benefiting homeless children. Anything for the children!"

Another member of the boot camp, Mary Dao, admits, "I'm not a runner, but I have a goal of completing a half marathon sometime this year, so I decided to start by doing at least one 10k and the opportunity came up to support the community and benefit homeless children."

The Joyners, who are big advocates for the Fountain Valley community, say that it’s second nature for them to rally their members and get involved because they are always looking for ways to give back. They explain, “As far as boot camps go, Fit Body Boot Camp is a family. Outside of boot camp, we enjoy participating in community activities and also supporting local businesses and charities as a boot camp family.”

Fountain Valley Fit Body Boot Camp is open five days a week with varying session times and can be found at 16560 S. Harbor Blvd., Fountain Valley, CA, 92708. For more information about their hours of operation, please visit their schedule here.
