Partnership to open up new opportunities for advertisement, game content developers and media companies to deliver dazzling hi-res motion imagery to low cost cellular devices.

FrameFree Technologies, developers of a family of products that provide easy and efficient authoring and compression of motion imagery, today announced an alliance with SMedia Technology Corporation, a company that delivers a full-range of innovative and high performance 3D graphics and multimedia products. The partnership will put the recently-launched FrameFree Studio product on the SMedia’s Glamo chipset, found in mobile phones around the world. FrameFree Studio will begin shipping on the Glamo family of cellular multimedia co-processors during the fourth quarter of this year.

SMedia’s Glamo chip allows mobile media abilities such as 2D and 3D graphics, as well as video, and with FrameFree Studio included, the door has opened for game and content developers and media companies worldwide to capitalize on a burgeoning platform for high speed content and rich media ad delivery to all mobile phones. Additionally, the alliance brings an enhanced e-commerce and gaming mobile media experience to any cellular device, no matter how high- or low-end, for a fraction of the costs normally associated with that process.

“FrameFree Studio will add a great new dimension to the Glamo chipset, and has the exact attributes we were looking for -- extremely simple and dazzling motion imagery that looks as rich on mobile devices as it does on PCs,” said H.Y. Lin, chief executive officer of SMedia. “We are very pleased to align with FrameFree, and look forward to getting devices to the mass market later this year.”

Released earlier this year, FrameFree Studio is the first digital imaging software that allows for the creation of compelling movies from still photographs without a steep learning curve or compromising quality at any bandwidth. Built on the world’s most advanced pixel-matching and interpolation engine, FrameFree Studio starts with two digital still images of any resolution, and through analysis, interpolation and morphing, automatically provides interactivity and smooth motion between them.

“The vision behind FrameFree Studio is to create beautiful motion imagery from still photographs without the user realizing all of the technology behind the product,” said Tom Randolph, president of FrameFree. “The FrameFree alliance with the Glamo family of cellular multimedia co-processors is a great illustration of this, and with their relevance and reputation in the Asian mobile media market, this is a step forward for FrameFree Technologies.”
